I really like this piece, as it is pretty well put together in all aspects like color perspective and composistion. Though the bloodstains are hard to spot because of the other saturated colors in this piece.

i used the pencil tool in photoshop with pressure opacity : )

The colors you use are pretty and fit well with the simple composistion. Dont give up and you will be able to get the results you want. Maybe try using refrences to make it easier to paint materials and objects you arent to sure of how look.
